National Ranking Details

The formula used to calculate the National Rankings is as follows:

• All players must have a Volley America # in order to receive pts and end of season prize money
• Rankings are calculated using the total points earned from tournaments played using the following selection process:
  • Players earn points every time they play and make the playoffs:
    • 1st Place = 40 points
    • 2nd Place = 25 points
    • 3rd Place = 15 points
    • 5th Place = 10 points
    • 7th Place = 8 points
    • 9th Place = 5 points
    • All other = 1 point
  • All divisions receive bonus pts based on the # of teams in a division:
    • 1st place receives bonus pts equal to the # of teams in the division
    • 2nd place receives the same amount of bonus pts minus 2
    • 3rd place receives the same amount as 2nd place minus 3
    • 5th place receives the same amount as 3rd place minus 5
    • And so forth until you get to 0. This makes larger tournaments worth more than the weaker tournaments yet still does not penalize teams that win smaller events
  • The following multipliers are applied based on the division:
    • Open = 1,000
    • AA = 100
    • A = 10
    • B = 1
  • Add the top 5 finishes out of the last 10 tournaments played within the current season and the prior season. (1/1 of the previous year to the current date)
