Here is an update on the # of teams being accepted for the October 24-25 Spalding Volley America Nationals in Clearwater Beach:

1.       In order to allow as many teams as possible to compete we will be taking 6 teams per net in some divisions

a.       When this happens the teams will be broken down into two 3-team pools

b.      You will play 2 games to 21 pts. Against the 2 other teams in your pool giving you the same amount of games as if there were normal 5-team pools

c.       Top 2 out of 3 teams will advance to the playoffs which means that more teams will be in the playoffs earning extra playing time for more teams

d.      The semis and finals can be finished on Sunday

e.      The two pools will alternate using the court so that no team will have to play back to back matches

2.       If we can arrange for more nets on the beach we will go back to 5-team pools where possible

3.       We will add additional spaces in the tournament based on whether we can fit any extra nets on the beach after beach survey Thursday and after we finish set up Friday

4.       ALL TEAMS MUST BE PREPAID BY WEDNESDAY AT 9 PM. Any team not paid in full by that time may have their spot given away to a team on the wait list.

5.       Teams will be moved up from the wait list. Be sure to get on the wait list ASAP if you want to play

If any team does not like this new format they are eligible to drop out with a refund as long as we receive notice by 9 pm Thursday night.

We are accepting the following amount of teams on Saturday:

Men’s Open: 40 teams

MAA: 36 (6 new teams added with new format)

MA: 30 teams (5 new teams added)

MB: 6 teams

Women’s Open: 32 teams

WAA: 42 (7 new teams added with new format)

WA: 24 (4 new teams added)

WB: 6 teams

We expect to have enough space for all teams on Sunday but please preregister ASAP just in case

Don’t forget the Saturday Evening Player’s Party at Shephard’s with a free buffet plus 2 complimentary Corona Lights for every player.

The upcoming Volley America Nationals is filling up quickly causing us to make the following changes to the registration procedure:

1. All teams must be prepaid by 9 pm Wednesday 10/21. Teams not paid by that time may their have spot in tournament given away to a team on wait list. $10 late fee for any team paying after 10/21
2. All OPEN teams must be checked in by 7:30 am and start playing by 8 am on Sat. 10/24 
3. AA, A & B divisions will have staggered check-in and start times so that we can use some of those courts for the Men & Women's Open divisions. The start times will be posted on the Volley America and EEVB Facebook pages and also the event page at VolleyAmerica .com
4. Court assignments will be completed Friday and emailed to teams + posted online. Teams will still need to check in to pick up their t-shirts and Spalding King of the Beach Volleyball. Late teams will lose points and even be subject to forfeits

We hope that these procedures do not seem too harsh. This event has exceeded all of your expectations and used up every court that we have available on the beach. We want to insure that every team that wants to play has a chance.

If you register and get placed on the wait list, don't pay the entry fee until you are contacted by EEVB and told you are accepted.

Please plan on staying late for the EEVB After Play arty at Shephard's Beach Resort, a short walk from the tournament w/ food and beverages for all players. and a Wig-Out Dress Up party

• Sunday: 9 - 9:30, play to 6 pm

Notes:

• Divisions with less than 8 teams may be merged with other divisions at tournament director`s discretion
• Merged divisions will still have playoffs for championship pool pts. MO, MAA, MA, MB, WO, WAA, WA, WB receive EEVB Volley America Grand Prix Pts
• Prizes awarded to top 4 teams in each division (3 teams in divisions with less than 8 teams)

Prize Money:

MO: $5,000

WO: $5,000

MAA & WAA: $500 ($250 each)

CAA: $250

Prize Money Breakdown

Format:

• Double elimination Cross Over: Men’s Open & Women’s Open
• All other divisions: Pool play, followed by single elimination playoffs
• Women’s Open semis & finals will be held Saturday night if possible. Men’s Open semis and finals will be Sunday

Fees:

• $10 late fee for any team that pays after 9 pm Wednesday 10/21
• MO & WO: $150
• Open fees higher for this event to allow for increased prize money
• $60 for all other divisions

Volley America Membership required for all players. $15/player ($20 if done at the beach) All memberships run from 1/1 to 12/31 or the calendar year. Membership fees will be used to fund the $35,000 Grand Prix for all same sex & coed divisions, a National Ranking System, end of season championships and insurance coverage.
